We are seeking to recruit an experienced Family Support Worker to join our Gloucester & Tewkesbury Children & Families Team who is committed to providing early intervention and targeted support to children, young people, and their families. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced and dynamic multi professional team.

You will work alongside social workers in reviewing service users’ needs in line with their assessments, and support and encourage parents in identifying ways in which difficulties may be overcome. You will work alongside social workers with children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child In Need plans, and Court proceedings. You will work with children and families through direct work and observations.


The purpose of the Family Support Worker role is to work alongside our social workers in ensuring we are able to improve the outcomes of children and their families through direct work and intervention.


You will participate in the development of the role across the locality and bring a creative approach to meeting the identified needs of children, young people and their families. In return, we will be able to offer you training to allow you to grow in the role. You will benefit from our commitment to provide excellent supervision and support.


 About you



  • Passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children through direct work

  • Creative and credible in your approach

  • Experience of multi agency working

  • Have experience of working with children and families

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and research
