Employment Type:Fixed Term

Location:5th Floor, Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester - GL1 2TG

Closing date:16 August 2020 at midnight

Fixed term for 18 months

This is a very exciting time to join Gloucester City Council and lead Gloucester’s Destination Marketing activity through a crucial phase of its development.

In the next 18 months Gloucester faces the challenge of emerging from the Covid crisis and re-establishing itself as a destination of choice for visitors to the region. We want to communicate that Gloucester is open for business as a high-quality destination for visitors to enjoy world-class sports & heritage, unique culture and retail – all within a first-rate public realm. The city already has exciting plans for socially distanced events and festivals this year and a new public square the size of Leicester Square will open in 2021 as well as ambitious development in and around the Cathedral.

Whilst managing the Destination Marketing team in Gloucester you will oversee the development of the brand narrative for Gloucester, working with brand and design agencies. You will develop strategic partnerships and co-ordinate the work of the city in relation to destination marketing.

Working with a Marketing Steering Board you will identify, lead and ensure delivery of a rolling plan of creative marketing campaigns. You will also develop strategic partnerships within the city and the region with high-profile partners as Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester Rugby Club, Gloucester Quays, GFirst LEP, Gloucester BID, the Culture Trust and Heritage Forum, the hotel and conferencing sector and other Destination Marketing Organisations.

You will ensure that inward investment considerations are factored into the place marketing agenda and support the Visitor Economy to grow in value. You will be an experienced, skilled and credible place marketeer who is energetic, resourceful, commercial, collaborative and creative looking to drive forward this unique opportunity.

In return, you can look forward to an impressive package of benefits and an organisation committed to celebrating diversity in our workforce and collaborating to make the most of our differences. We support remote and flexible working.

Gloucester is easily accessed by train and we encourage the use of sustainable transport within and around the city.
