The opportunity to improve the consistency of decision making at the front door is here. Making the right decisions early on in a child’s journey is so important to enable the outcomes for children and their families to improve. Children need to be supported at the earliest opportunity, ideally by people they know best and we all need to focus our energies and available resources on the right children. With this in mind Gloucestershire is supporting the development of a MASH.
Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and Children’s Helpdesk
Gloucestershire are currently redesigning our front door services so that we have professional oversight and decision making by a social work professional as the first response.
We want a system that is driven by conversation and professional decision making so that we take a flexible response “to do what needs to be done”.
To support decision making, the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) consists of a team of professionals from a number of statutory agencies who securely share information to ensure that appropriate and robust decisions are made in relation to all new safeguarding concerns. The MASH covers safeguarding concerns about children and incidents of Domestic Abuse within Gloucestershire.
The successful applicant will be based within the Children’s Helpdesk but will work alongside MASH colleagues to support effective decision making.

- Passionate about achieving the best outcomes through sound decision making at the earliest opportunity to promote the right response at the right time
- Creative and credible in your approach
- Experience of multi agency working
- Have recent statutory experience of working with families and protecting children who are in need and at risk
- The ability to make timely decisions based on the analysis of available information to prevent delay in children receiving what they need Goonowledge
