The role of an Emergency Duty Team Senior Social Worker: This is an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency Duty Team, which is a bespoke service that responds to emergencies out of hours. In this role you will work within a small and supportive team of Senior Social Workers where you will be prioritising effectively and making sound judgements in a variety of challenging situations. The Emergency Duty Team works closely with other agencies that also work out of hours, both in the voluntary and statutory sectors. This position offers the opportunity to broaden your skillset and experience further.   You will work to a rolling rota which includes weekend and night-working; you will also have two weeks off in every seven weeks.

Whilst there is management support 24/7, overnight shifts require the skills and ability to work autonomously at times. You will need to be suitably experienced and confident in order to make decisions on emergency situations out of hours. Therefore it is a requirement that you have a minimum of three years’ post qualifying experience of front-line work with children and families or adult care services.

Gloucestershire Children’s Services Social Work Academy is a professional development centre for social workers at all levels, from students and newly qualified social workers to heads of service. The Academy also supports a range of entry routes into social work and related professions including 'Step Up' programmes and Frontline. It is for both new and current staff and aims to embed a 'Gloucestershire Approach' to social work practice, leadership and management and makes sure there is a consistent level of good practice across Gloucestershire Children’s Services.
