Political Research Assistant for the Labour/ Green Group

Fixed term contract until May 2021

Are you interested in local democracy and politics?  Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to develop your skills?

Gloucestershire County Council is looking for a political research assistant for the Labour and Green Group, known locally as the Labour Green Co-operative Alliance.

You will support the political group in managing and co-ordinating group business, as well as keeping a watching brief on national developments affecting local government.  You will also draft press releases, undertake research, prepare briefings and support group members in their day-to-day activities.

You should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have experience of working in a political environment but that does not necessarily need to be in Gloucestershire.  It is important that you have a good understanding of Labour Party and Green Party policies.  You should be self-motivated and have the ability to manage changing priorities.

Political awareness and sensitivity are essential requirements and working with the media and other partners, ideally in local government is desirable. You will be educated to degree standard or have equivalent experience with excellent research and communication skills.

For an informal discussion please contact Simon Harper in Democratic Services on 01452 324202 or email simon.harper@gloucestershire.gov.uk
