The Council is offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic person with the relevant skills and experience to lead its procurement and contract management activity.
You will be the procurement advisor lead in developing modern procurement practices, commissioning and contract management strategies and procedures. You will provide expert advice and support to service managers on the best methods of procurement. There will also be opportunities for you to co-ordinate specific and complex tendering exercises as the Council seeks to deliver savings, maximise income and secure continued improvement through smarter procurement and effective contract management.
You should possess a relevant qualification, such as CIPS. You will have practical experience of tendering processes and knowledge of the latest procurement directives and legislative requirements. You will also have experience of writing tender documentation, evaluating tenders and awarding contracts as well as an understanding of all aspects of the contracting process.
You will be creative and innovative with strong problem solving and evaluation skills and be able to interpret complex technical information and reach suitable conclusions. You will be organised and have effective communication skills allowing you to liaise with colleagues at all levels and with customers, partners and contractors.
