This post will lead and continue to enhance GCC’s developer contributions function. As an ambassador for the Council’s Local Developer Guide, liaising with developers and planning applicants, the role ensures that new developments make a reasonable resource contribution to the provision of community infrastructure and services which are the responsibility of GCC.
Working as an integral part of the Strategic Infrastructure Management Team, you will act as the principal contact and ‘expert’ on such matters, presenting and defending GCC’s requirements, working closely with the local planning authorities, applicants, elected Members and senior management.
In addition to a good grounding in the operations of the planning system, including national and local legislation relating to planning obligations and CIL, it is expected that you will be a skilled communicator/negotiator and creative thinker. Fundamentally however, you will need to be a self starter and an accomplished strategist, able to know when to engage proactively, be reactive, exert influence and/or deploy external, expert technical support.
