Your Role: 

We are on the lookout for resilient, driven individuals who can play their part in making our vision for children’s services a success. You will be instrumental in delivering a first-class service which will deliver the best outcomes for the children and young people of Gloucestershire.

We are looking to appoint an Independent Reviewing Officer who is committed to making a real difference for children and young people in the care of Gloucestershire County Council.

You will be responsible for preparing for and chairing reviews for children aged 0 – 18 and for identifying any issues that may be impacting on the welfare of the children or preventing them from achieving permanence in a timely manner.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, flexible, innovative and strong enough to challenge others when the needs of children are not being met or when practice is poor. Pursuing resolution of concerns is a significant part of the job, so you need to be persistent and courageous.

Applicants must have at least five years post qualifying relevant experience. Management experience is desirable. A full driving licence and access to a car is essential as reviews are held all over the county. 

Alongside this there are some things we will require of you to be successfully appointed to this post, as well as your experience as a frontline social worker:

  • Social Work England registration

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work

  • To have passed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) 

  • A full driving licence and willingness to drive

  • DBS clearance
