Adult Social Care – COVID-19 – Urgent recruitment –Social Care Assessors.
This is a Temporary Staff Service vacancy.

Why do you need me?

Social Care Assessors across the nation support millions of people everyday and are more important than ever as society faces unprecedented upheaval during the COVID-19 pandemic. With your help, we can make sure the people of Gloucestershire continue to receive the best possible support when they need it most.

This urgent interim recruitment allows us to extend some of our provision to offer a 7 day a week, 8:00 – 20:00 service, to individuals who require Adult Social Care during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. However, working hours and patterns may be flexible to align with your other commitments.

Who is this targeted towards?

This interim recruitment is targeted to attract individuals with significant social care experience (from a variety of contexts) and also registered social work professionals who are not currently working and/or may have been contacted by Social Work England (SWE) to join the temporary register.

What will I be doing?

Where identified as necessary, we require individuals who are able to go out (following social distancing guidelines and with risk assessments in place), or at other times to work remotely; in order to support people whose day to day life is being impacted by their illness, disability or other impairment; and similarly to provide support to carers whose caring role may be currently impacted.

We are looking for people with a high degree of skill in using a variety of communication methods, people who are adaptable and flexible and can remain level headed in challenging circumstances.

Where will I be based?

In this role you will sometimes be working in the community (having direct contact with people) and sometimes be working remotely, such as from your own home. When working in the community, you may be part of a ‘critical hub team’, set up in our Stroud and Shire Hall offices, with minimum staffing numbers and social distancing measures in place. Hygiene measures have been increased across all of our offices and we are taking advice from our Director of People and the Chief Medical Officer.

When working with us, you will be expected to travel throughout the county of Gloucestershire; with mileage claims recompensed.

Gloucestershire County Council is committed to promoting the safety and well being of vulnerable adults. Therefore, in line with Safer Recruitment practices, a recent reference will be required and your suitability of working with vulnerable adults will be explored during the selection process.

What will GCC offer me?

  • Online e – learning and induction package

  • Shadowing and observations prior to working alone (operating within social distancing guidelines)

  • ICT facilities, including remote access

  • Supervision and support

  • The opportunity to keep your skills and experience up to date

  • Personal protective equipment (where available)

  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone

  • Free parking at Shire Hall when working within the ‘critical hub team’
