Location:Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester - GL1 2TG
Closing date:14 October 2020 at midnight
This is a superb opportunity to lead the Council’s award winning Highways Authority and the contractors and consultants that we work in collaboration with as we respond to an exciting but challenging growth scenario with significant Government grant funding (£300m+), local investment and Covid 19 adaptations.
You will lead and be responsible for teams working on multi-million pound major highways projects, local schemes, delivery of our term maintenance contract and day to day highways issues, including winter resilience. You will be part of a close management team that is working with partners to deliver a major growth agenda within the County. You will be responsible for identifying the skills necessary to deliver this agenda and developing a structure for the future.
You will provide supportive but clear sighted leadership, manage multi-disciplinary teams and have experience of managing change and fostering a positive culture to deliver first class services. You will need to have significant experience of working at a managerial/leadership level and have a thorough understanding of the specifics of the Highways agenda. You will need an ability to command the respect, trust and confidence of Directors, Elected Members and senior managers across the Council and be comfortable in an environment of high political focus. In addition, you will be confident negotiating with our commercial and other public sector partners.
If you believe that you have the skills, enthusiasm and the track record to meet our needs, then we would like to hear from you.
The opportunity is open to those who wish to be considered on a full-time or job share basis or those who wish to submit a proposal for a different working arrangement that may meet the Council’s needs.
