Augmentative and Alternative Communication provides strategies including symbol based charts and books, alphabet charts and simple and complex communication aids that support or replace someone’s speech when they can’t rely upon it to communicate, as well as maximising access to assistive technology..


We are looking to appoint an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Support . This is a new role, the successful The post holder will work within   EISSS Countywide team for Sensory/Physical and AAC.


Working closely with Leads for AAC and VI, the AAC Support Officer role will provide training and support to young people across Gloucestershire with communication challenges and/or visual needs. Working directly with children and young people (0-25), their families, and schools to support access to learning in all phases of education and to achieve their aspirations.


The post holder will work specifically across education services and communities to support the development of inclusive practice and increase capacity in educational settings. Offering advice and support to ensure all children and young people who use AAC/assistive technology achieve good outcomes and independence.
