Are you someone who has a person-centred approach to social care and can work collaboratively in a team across two units? If so, this may be the role for you! The post-holder will be able to demonstrate experience of working with Adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours.
The Woodlands is an independent service situated in the grounds of Oakley Adult Opportunity Centre in Cheltenham. It is a purpose built day service for adults with learning disabilities including Autism, complex needs and behaviours that can challenge, individuals who may not integrate as well in your traditional social environments. There are many aims to this service particularly maximising service user choice, independence and inclusion.
You will be responsible for facilitating stimulating sessions and activities both within the centres and in the community in order to promote, encourage and enhance independence among those who use the service by using a person centred approach.
We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic, organised individuals who will be able to demonstrate initiative. The role will include undertaking intimate personal care tasks and moving & handling procedures throughout the day.
It is essential that a friendly, calm manner is present and that good communication skills are displayed to individuals accessing the service, parents, carers and colleagues.
This role comes under the Adult Social Care umbrella. The internal vision from Adult Social Care here at Gloucestershire County Council is to support anyone who uses to the services to lead full and active lives where independence is encouraged within any boundaries/limitations. Overall the Adult’s directorate want a bespoke service tailored mutually with the service user(s) and the employees of the organisation enabling choice and control across the county.
You will be required to undertake regular mandatory training to widen your skill set and refresh your knowledge on certain legislation and approaches.
