The Innovation Lab network is growing – we are recruiting for 4 tech-savvy, creative and self-motivated Lab Technicians to join our vibrant team. If you are passionate about digital technology and up-skilling others, this is the role for you.
Our ideal candidates will either: be familiar with a wide range of technology; or have a particular interest in specific software, gadgets or skills, with the potential to quickly branch into new technologies - if this is you, we’d love to meet you!
In the coming year, we will be launching 4 new Innovation Labs in libraries across Gloucestershire – based in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud and the Cotswolds.
As Lab Technician, you will be the technical and creative lead in supporting businesses, makers and inventors of all ages to explore and learn new technology, including virtual reality, CAD design, 3D printing, and coding.
You will be responsible for driving and developing 121 training, partnership projects community and school workshops, and supporting the overall development of the Innovation Lab offer.
You should have:
- Excellent customer service skills
- An ability to communicate concepts, ideas and instruction to a wide range of audiences
- Confidence in exploring new technology and software
- A flexible and creative approach to projects and solving problems
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, and be ready to hit the ground running
As part of your application we would like you to produce a short, 5 minute demonstration. Please present it as if you are running a workshop, demonstrating your favourite piece of technology. Be creative, have fun, and include an unlisted Youtube link to your video in the ‘Relevant Experience’ section of the application form.
