Salary: Teachers pay and conditions - Main Scale or UPS
Location:GHES Outpatients, St George’s Road - GL50 3EW
Closing date:23 April 2021 at midnight
Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) is a registered PRU (Ofsted Outstanding School 2016/17) educating young people who are medically unable to attend school and supporting school-aged mothers during their maternity leave. We are looking for a full-time teacher of mathematics to join our service.
We require an outstanding teacher of Mathematics to join our inpatients and outreach team. We teach mathematics to all of our students who are with us from reception to Year 11.
At Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH) students can be with us for one day or for over a week, and numbers vary on a daily basis. Teaching can take place at the bedside or in the classroom on the Children’s Ward.
We have our largest cohort of students within outpatients – these are students who are too ill to attend school but not at GRH. Most of our teaching has been online for a number of years to allow us to accommodate more students. However we do also teach students face to face in the home or at one of our classrooms in outpatients.
During the year our student numbers rise and fall, so the successful candidate needs to be flexible with working patterns within a school day, and the ability to deal well with students flowing in and out of groups.
We serve the county of Gloucestershire, and students can be located anywhere within that. Therefore it is essential that candidates hold a full driving license and have use of a car.
This position offers the opportunity to work in both our inpatient team on the Children’s Ward at GRH and teach within our outreach team, which involves working in homes, from our classroom in Cheltenham or online.
If you are an outstanding teacher of mathematics, are looking to apply your teaching skills and experience in a very different setting, have a great deal of empathy and commitment to making a difference to every child you work with, then please get in touch to find out more information.
When completing the GCC application form please ensure you not only tell us about your relevant experience, but why you would like to be a teacher within our service.
Positions are subject to enhanced DBS check.
Start Date: 1st September (on the basis of satisfactory recruitment checks)
