Fixed term post for 24 months

We are looking for a Museum Project Officer to deliver various projects to support the development of the Museum of Gloucester and its collection.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we re-imagine the Museum of Gloucester and go on a journey of transformation across our collection, public programming, audience development and our commitments toward long-term sustainability. You will help drive forward the ambitions and priorities detailed in the recently published 5-year Museum Development Plan.

You will manage several strategic projects that will take the service and its collection into the future. Over the next 2 years, you will take the lead role in the delivery of a Museum Transformation project focusing on three key areas:

  1. Collection rationalisation

  2. Collection storage, both physical and digital

  3. Decant of objects from one of our stores

About you

This role presents several exciting opportunities and challenges to get your teeth into, therefore you will have a proven track record of delivering projects from concept to delivery to completion in a Museum based setting. Due to the priorities listed above, you will have experience in at least 2 of the 3 areas listed. Experience of fundraising and bid writing would also be essential in order to support these projects.

You will have the confidence to hit the ground running, picking up the reins on work that has already started. You will have experience of planning, organising and evaluating as well as the ability to report to a range of people both verbally and in writing. You will also have a strong understanding of collections management principles and museum processes.

You will be enthusiastic, proactive and results driven, learn quickly and become a key team player in the delivery of our priorities.
