Do you have significant experience of managing climate change programmes and are looking for your next career development opportunity? Can you lead and develop decarbonisation programmes to transform Gloucester’s energy landscape and help to create sustainable, clean growth? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Gloucester City Council has declared a climate emergency and created an ambitious action plan to get to net zero carbon by 2030, and for the whole city to be net zero by 2050 at the latest. Now we need someone equally ambitious to deliver these plans.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to use your subject matter knowledge and expertise in environmental issues to develop and drive the Council’s climate change action plans.

You’ll be expected to have proven professional excellence in the field of climate change and considerable experience in the management and delivery of decarbonisation programmes and projects. The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of community, business, public and private sector stakeholders is a key skill required to be a success in the post.

With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will be able to build strong relationships and have experience of preparing business cases, securing funding or investment, and possess robust project management skills.

We think Gloucester is a pretty special place, and you’ll be able to help us make it even better. If you join us, you will enjoy a supportive, flexible work environment, in one of the best small cities in the UK. So if you feel that you have the relevant skills and expertise to make a difference, we want to hear from you.

Interview date: W/C 14th June.
