When it comes to delivering excellent customer service, few environments are more rewarding than a place that brings enjoyment, education and knowledge to a whole community. You will find this and a whole lot more at your local library.
We are currently looking for members of staff to help us deliver this excellent customer service at various locations within the Gloucester and Forest of Dean area. These are 4 separate Library Assistant positions, at the individual libraries listed.
You will need a good IT and digital skills, enjoy working as part of a team, be able to use your own initiative and to use our resources in order to answer the wide range of enquiries we receive.
You will proactively promote the library and children’s services, participate in any activities and outreach work, and maintain a good knowledge of the library services in order to help customers gain maximum use of the facilities.
Community is key within branch libraries. You will work within passionate teams to engage with the local community, encountering people from all walks of life, exhibiting a wide range of behaviours. This can sometimes be challenging, and thus, personal resilience is a skill highly advantageous to this role.
No formal library qualifications are required but demonstrated, high quality customer service experience is needed.
Patterns of hours:
During regular services, these are a fixed pattern, typically covering the following days over a 2-week rota. This may include evenings.
Cinderford: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat
Newent: Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat
Hucclecote: Mon, Tue, Thu
Matson & Quedgeley: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat
